2025 Orenda Secondary Teacher of the Year

Ronnie Maxwell is the 2025 Orenda Secondary Teacher of the Year! (See the reaction here: https://youtu.be/4MKNFFWGFJ4)

Ms. Maxwell is completing her fifth year with Orenda and teaches 6th grade English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR). One staff member shared, “She offers interactive lessons in which parents can be involved. Her positivity is infectious and enhances collaborative relations.” As the middle school ELAR department head, she works with her team to design and implement rigorous lessons and use data to drive instruction. Ms. Maxwell organized and championed family engagement activities, the most recent being the Fall Middle School Literacy Night. She is an advocate for her teachers and maintains wonderful communication with all involved with decision making.

In addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Maxwell has served as a basketball coach, National Junior Honor Society sponsor, and mentor teacher. Congratulations Ms Maxwell!

Swim/Diving State Champions!

On Friday, February 14, 2025, Gateway Gators finished on the podium in a swimming event for the first time in school history! And did it TWICE! Congratulations to Savina Smith (100 yard Breaststroke) for the first swimming gold medal in school history! Congrats to our Boys 200 Medley Relay for bringing home bronze (Nicholas Camp, Wyatt Gass, Victor Wallace and Luke Hudson). And to top it off, Eve Shrader won gold in Diving for the third year in a row! What a great thrill to say, Gateway College Prep...State Champions!
