Gateway Prep Finishes Fourth Week of Online Classes

(April 16, 2020) Gateway College Preparatory School in Georgetown is set to conclude their fourth week of distance learning this Friday.

The K-12 public charter school rolled out online classes the week of March 23rd, as soon as students returned from spring break - two weeks ahead of many area school districts. Superintendent Carla Silber credits this ability to quickly pivot to strong blended learning systems and practices already in place, as well as a highly engaged school community.

“Being a charter school allows us the agility to respond more quickly in this ever-evolving situation. Our staff embrace innovation and frequently try new teaching methods to best meet the needs of students.”

Students and their families are responding well to this shift in schedule. Almost 100 percent of students had a device by the end of the first week, and several hundred classroom Zoom meetings were held by the second week of distance learning.

“We are committed to continuing to provide the high-quality college prep education we have pledged to our students and their families, even during such an unprecedented time,” commented Silber.
